Surfing in Baler, Aurora
As the capital and oldest municipality of Aurora Province, Baler is the seat of government and the center for trade and industry. The most progressive town in Aurora, Baler commands the most resorts, public institutions and facilities, as well as business establishments. Baler is known for numerous tourist attractions. In addition to the Baler Catholic Church and other historical sites , there are resorts at Sabang Beach and Cemento Beach, where surfers from all over the world compete for the annual International Aurora Surfing Cup. The coral-rich islands of Dimadimalangat, Aniao and Lukso-Lukso lie just off the coast.
I didn’t know Baler until I saw the poster of the movie with the same title. I haven’t watched it yet but I’ll soon find time to do so – it received numerous awards in 2010 (fyi). I also didn’t know that Baler wasn’t really located in the Quezon Province. It’s situated far northeast in Aurora Province – mistaken it with Aurora, Quezon.
Here’s my share of the surfing experience I had and witnessed during the 3rd weekend of May.
Up North in Ilocos
I started my travel getaways as 2011 kicks in. As a jumpstart, we chose to spend our mid January days off in exploring the northest part of Luzon Island – Ilocos. Take a look at some of the photos I took while we’re on the road, going to different places every day.
Day trip in Intramuros
Walking around Manila never fails to bring so many memories back. And so on this day, we pursued our plan to stroll around the city within a city – Intramuros.
